Tech Toys. Consistently Fast.

By Paul Stoltzfus · August 1, 2010 · Filed in Nuggets, Theory, Video · No Comments »

I am such a perfectionist that I haven’t blogged since that last post. Really.

So… More like a LancUp. Less like NPR . And not at all like talk radio. Slowly sneak in tech toys to improve the delivery.

Huh? Rewards Don’t Work That Way.

This morning Andy Mathers Tweeted:
@andymatters : Excellent presentation…brilliant execution…”A New Perspective on Motivation” (video) – timkav http://bit.ly/btRq93

Which led me to this from RSA Comment
Higher incentives actually led to worse performance (10:48)

Forget carrots and sticks, they don’t always work .

Wow. What do you think?

Will you tweak your teams motivation?

This morning Tal and Soren (3yr & 4yr) annoyed the patience out of  me while I was working in the office. I was already behind because of  procrastinating a few items from last week. “Daddy, can I have a piece of paper?” Daddy, Daddy, Daddy…  ”Can I put this paper in the mixer (paper shredder)”   “sure…   oh WAIT, WAIT, That’s a $1,284.34 check, no NO NO…”

How can I deny these kids!
The “too busy Dad” guilt gets the best of me.

Soren & Tal Looking for Daddy!

Soren & Tal looking for Daddy Time

OK guys, lets go outside and find something to do. We have some new toys to play with. (I have no idea what new toys we have – so I have to make something up). Quickly.

I pulled out the ramp from last Summer’s July 4th psychotic break. Dads are like that.

That’s when I learned what separates winners from quitters. From Tal.
Fight PASSED the Shark. (2:02)

He is much better after getting back up. (0:15)

How bad (complacent) would you be WITHOUT the shark?

My predictions for brands and bloggers this year.

2010 is the year for brands that who care. Brands who mother and nurture their guests.

How long will you wait to monetize?

Always on Stage. Right?

By Paul Stoltzfus · December 1, 2009 · Filed in Nuggets, Theory · No Comments »

We are always on stage ready or not.
Business. Family. Culture. (add your category…)
And when we are on THAT stage, the stage with a mic and thirteen eyeballs looking at us, that is just life. So chill and be.

The once comforting shadows are scampering shorter and brighter as we become increasingly vulnerable to genuinely share in our social communities. Why control our image if we can nurture it one seed at a time. Our rough edges are proof of our reality. A reality that we are diamonds in the rough.

Is a bullet proof image possibly anyway? Ask Tiger Woods.
